I couldn't resist doing a little extra metalwork on this blue agate doublet heart. The stone has a beautiful bright blue background with feathery white patterns that remind me of clouds drifting across a summer sky. I hand soldered the heart and added a decorative cap with raised details and little silver accents, giving the setting some personality of its own. It's a lovely mix of natural stone and handmade metalwork, and a sweet gift for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day or simply someone who loves blue hearts. Handmade in my home studio.

Artisan Handmade Process

My medium is the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, combining glass, gemstones, and other materials using the copper foil method. My metalwork features a blend of tin, silver, copper, and brass, all safe for sensitive skin. Instead of torch soldering, I use a soldering iron, which gives me more flexibility to create a diverse variety of organic designs.
