Antique Skeleton Key Necklace with Blue Labradorite

I took an authentic antique skeleton key and gave it a little something extra with a round blue labradorite gemstone. The stone has that wonderful electric blue flash that seems to appear out of nowhere when the light hits it, and I hand soldered the setting right onto the old key. I love taking something that once had an entirely different purpose and turning it into jewelry, especially when it has a little history behind it. This one's a fun mix of old and new, with a bit of sparkle thrown in for good measure. A unique gift for someone who loves antique keys, repurposed jewelry or anything a little out of the ordinary. Handmade in my home studio.

Artisan Handmade Process

My medium is the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, combining glass, gemstones, and other materials using the copper foil method. My metalwork features a blend of tin, silver, copper, and brass, all safe for sensitive skin. Instead of torch soldering, I use a soldering iron, which gives me more flexibility to create a diverse variety of organic designs.
