I set this beautiful piece of freshwater mussel mother of pearl into a hand soldered gunmetal finish frame, keeping those wonderful raised blister pearl formations right where nature put them. The creamy shell has soft flashes of pearl, pink and champagne that shift as the light moves across it, while the heavier metalwork gives the whole piece a wonderfully organic feel. It is unusual, a little imperfect looking in the very best way, and exactly the sort of material I love finding something to do with. Handmade in my home studio.

Artisan Handmade Process
My medium is the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, combining glass, gemstones, and other materials using the copper foil method. My metalwork features a blend of tin, silver, copper, and brass, all safe for sensitive skin. Instead of torch soldering, I use a soldering iron, which gives me more flexibility to create a diverse variety of organic designs.
