Rutilated Quartz Pendant Necklace

I love a happy accident. While making this rutilated quartz pendant, I was wanting to come up with a different texture for the finding. I stumbled into a technique that left it looking a bit like the surface of the moon, cratered and textured in the best way. I’m not sure I could pull it off this precisely again, but I just might try.

Artisan Handmade Process

My medium is the Tiffany-style stained glass technique, combining glass, gemstones, and other materials using the copper foil method. My metalwork features a blend of tin, silver, copper, and brass, all safe for sensitive skin. Instead of torch soldering, I use a soldering iron, which gives me more flexibility to create a diverse variety of organic designs.
